Lesson #4: Regularly talk to your parents/caretakers.
We all have different relationships with our parents, especially when it comes to frequency of correspondence and conversation. I'm on the daily side, while others are weekly or even monthly. Whatever the type, staying in touch with your family and loved ones makes four years (more or less) of college not only bearable, but inspiring. Upon graduating, you will make no one as proud as your parents. They have felt your struggles, enjoyed your achievements, and payed your tuition. You have a cell phone. Use it. |

I notice more and more of my mother's mannerisms becoming my own, and I love it. Happy Mother's day, Mamá. Te quiero mucho!! |

Lesson #5: Go to a brewery ASAP.
I visited at least two in the United Kingdom, and since turning 21, have been to many more. Breweries are to college students what Willy Wonka's factory is to a child. You must see the birthing place of the delightful beverage that is beer. Breweries all have the same pieces - it's like human anatomy - but the total package, tour, and tastings are all unique and fun. Today, I'm taking my mother and some friends to the Ommegang Brewery in Cooperstown, NY, for an exclusive VIP tour. So, what are you waiting for! Go! |
